A Day in the Life of Euka
I saw a story on taking your dog to work as a part of National Take Your Dog To Work Day. Here in our offices, everyday is take your dog to work day. In fact, we have a dog named Euka that is officially the Vice President of Canine Communications for Iams and Eukanuba.
I am the chauffeur, and caretaker of Euka, who has been a member of the Eukanuba family for 7 years. As part of her office duties, she has also been professionally trained to greet people. Euka is a fully trained service dog and was donated, by MIRA, to P&G Pet Care.
A Day in the Life of Euka
- She takes pride in her job to meet and greet anyone coming into the lobby.
- The lunchtime walking group enjoys her company.
- Employees stop down to visit with Euka during their breaks.
- She enjoys a little “fetch the tennis ball” down the hallway.
- Euka hardly misses a day of work, except for those days when she visits the spa at Tipp City Wellness Center.
Euka shares her work day with our receptionist – the two have become great friends. Euka is doing a great job– she does however insist on scheduled breaks and biscuits throughout the day.
Our Little Celebrity
Euka makes many appearances in the local area
- Leading shelter walks
- Grand Marshall in parades
- Featured in Fortune magazine with A.G. Laffley, CEO of P&G
- Appearances at all of the buildings on Take Your Child To Work Day
- A model for any occasion (she loves the camera)
- Attending Bark in the Park event to help start the festivities. Our most recent event happened on September 15th, 2009.
She’s not just a pretty face
Euka is so smart; she continually loves to learn new tricks. Her repertoire of tricks include count fingers, play dead, roll over, give “high five”, spinning in a circle, and does all of her obedience in English and French. I am always looking for new fun tricks to teach Euka, please let me know if you have any ideas in the comments section below.
She’s just our little girl at the end of the day
I bring Euka home every night with me (we don’t leave her alone in the office). She loves taking her evening jog with me, fetching my son’s Lacrosse balls, and then falling asleep in her big cushy bed with her favorite teddy bear “Squiggles.”
