Research and Development
I started at the Pet Care Research & Development facility in 1994. My career here began after I had switched my dog to Eukanuba dog food. I was impressed with the difference the food made to his coat quality — no more flaky skin. And while picking up the recycled dog food in the backyard was still not a pleasurable experience, I could tell the huge difference in his GI health as well. I was so hooked that I knew I had to work for this wonderful company. Fifteen years later I still have a passion for this business and the products we make.
My Life Outside of Work
I’m easily tagged as a dog person, but I am very much an animal lover. We have two dogs, Inga & Jager, in our home, as well as a cat, marine fish tank, and a gecko. Our backyard hosts a habitat for a box turtle rescue. I am always tempted to tip that fine balance of exactly how many pets I can have and still be married.
As an advocate of responsible pet ownership, I enjoy spending time with our local Boy Scouts on the Dog Care merit badge. We cover the importance of early obedience training, first aid and general care and maintenance of their dogs.
I’m an empty nester, having just sent my favorite kid off to college last year. I’m only kidding when I say that I replaced him with a dog, but it is handy having that extra bedroom for the dog crate. Being a mom has been the most challenging, yet fulfilling experience for me. Being a volunteer puppy raiser for Canine Companions for Independence is pretty far up on the scale, too.
