The event will benefit Cancer Free Kids, which is a great organization!! Cancer can affect our two-legged and four-legged family members and friends. Hopefully, one day we can find a cure for this life threatening disease. I was doing some reading on their website and here is some info I found about this organization……
- Founded in 2002 to ensure funding is made available to researchers who are working hard every day to find a cure.
- Mission is to eradicate cancer as a life-threatening disease in children by funding promising research that might otherwise go unfunded.
- Thirty years ago, just 10% of kids diagnosed with cancer survived. Today, thanks to advances in research, about 80% of children will beat the disease.

The event is going to be a lot of fun and benefit a great cause! Hope you can make it with your four-legged pal. I can’t wait to see all the pooches at the river for a day of relaxation and fun!!!
Please note that Morgan’s Outdoor Adventures, Inc. is operating this event.
Employee Spotlight – Jennifer
Jennifer has been with the Pet Care for 13 years and supports our Marketing team. We were able to interview her and find out more about the pets that she shares her life with and why she likes working for Pet Care. Read more to learn about the special talent that Max has developed…….
1. What pets share your life? (be sure to include names, ages, species, and how you found/chose your pet)?
We have 3 cats and 2 dogs in our house.
Zoey is a 9 year old Yellow Lab. We adopted her when she was 2 years old from Pure Bred Rescue. When my 3 year old son and I went to pick her up she immediately laid down on the floor and put her belly up in the air so my son could pet her. She sat in the back seat of the van with Will with her head in his lap all the way home. She’s a great dog and we love her dearly. She sleeps with my son Quinn every night no matter what. Zoey also loves to retrieve tennis balls. She will do this for hours if you are willing.
In November of last year we adopted Max a 12 year old Yellow Lab. I saw his picture and profile on an adoption website . His owner had to give him up because she was moving into an apartment and couldn’t take him. I felt so bad for the old guy – it’s hard to find a home for a dog that old, especially a large breed. My kids and I decided we would give him a home to live out his final years in happiness. He was on another brand of dog food his entire life and has some hip/back issues. We changed him over to Iams Senior and we can see a tremendous difference in his ability to get around. He doesn’t run very much but he will get spunky every once in a while. He is a very sweet boy and fits in quite well with everyone.
We also have 3 cats. Kipper is a 2 year old long haired tiger cat. He has become my daughter’s cat mostly because she used to hold him constantly when we first brought him home. She would wrap him up like a baby and push him around in her doll stroller. I think Kipper believes that Catherine is his mother. Kipper was adopted from an animal shelter during the Home for the Holiday’s campaign. Simon is a 1 year old black long haired cat. He is everybody’s friend. He was also adopted from an animal shelter during Home for the Holidays. Simon is one cool cat – he loves the sound of the shower water, can climb ladders and likes to scrunch up his big body into small places when napping. Our third cat is Virgo who we adopted from the Iams Friends for Life program. He’s not much of a people cat, but he sure does love the other two kitties. We call the 3 of them the “furry boys”. They love to chase each other around the house after everyone has gone to bed. After a few hours they finally come upstairs and crash on the kids beds or in a laundry basket.
2. What is your pet(s) most unusual habit?
Our old guy – Max, can carry 3 tennis balls in his mouth at one time. One evening we took him on a walk to go visit our neighbor down the street and didn’t realize he was carrying a tennis ball in his mouth the entire time. We went into our neighbor’s house and Max dropped the ball in front of him! If he’s feeling really spunky he can get a Kong and two tennis balls in his mouth at once.
Our cat Simon likes to sit in bathroom while the kids take a shower. When they get out of the shower he rubs against their legs and bites their toes. Sometimes he even will peek his head into the shower while it’s running.
3. What’s your favorite story about pets in the office?
About 5 years ago when I first moved over to the Product Supply group there were several people who had Boston Terriers. They would usually all be in the office on Fridays and we would have the “Boston Terrier Races” on our floor. The dogs would chase each other around the entire floor (we had an “open office” layout). They could literally run a circular course around the entire Product Supply floor. It was like a horse race in our department. They were so much fun to have in our group.
4. How does your job at Pet Care make a difference OR what is your favorite part of working at Pet Care?
I love working in Pet Care because I am very passionate about pets and the joy they bring to our lives. I have always had pets in my life since I was a child. I was an Iams user long before I was an Iams employee!
I can remember driving past the Iams building on my way to Sidney for my job and always wishing I could work for Iams. It was always my dream to work for Iams. How cool is it to be able to market a product that you use every day and completely believe in.
